Where Will it End- Musica for Africa
“Where Will it End” is a song and a product of an important project, named “Musica for Africa“.
Through this project, many different souls that have worked together to remember the terrible Massacre of Garissa of April 2 (2015). This was one of the most powerful tragedies of the last years, because many students (more than 200) of the University of Garissa have been killed by a group of guerrilla fighters because of religious and political reasons. In fact, the responsible of this attack was a teacher (who previously taught in that campus) who was against the Kenyan government.
It is a human injustice: why innocent people have to risk their lives only for their religion or the political war among powerful countries?
To do not forget this massacre, Mariano (an Italian song writer and producer) has launched this project with the song with “Where Will it End” thanks to the collaboration of two African reggae artists: Thuthukani Cele, the musical collaborator keyboardist of Lucky Dube, and Mermans Mosengo, which is the member of the international group Playing for Change. In addition there is the unique participation of The Witt choir, specialized in African tribal chants.
Furthermore, the lyrics are written in English by Nikki Turner, who has treated various problems from a social perspective. Afterwards, a second version of this song has been launched thanks to the collaboration of the New York singer Clayton Bryant, who is very important: in fact, he has worked with well-known artists such as, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Sting, John Legend, Natalie Cole, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. The song has been played with the famous choir “Soweto Gospel Choir“.
However, the song is a great demonstration that let us remember this terrible massacre, but it also help us to think more about the strange and bad behaviors of human beings. However, this song has a deep and positive message: people don’t have to be tired but they have to fight! Only in this way anyone could obtain its freedom!
Lyrics of “Where Will it End”:
When all of your dreams have turned to nightmares
And all of your days seems dark as night
When you are the danger in every shadow
Then only you can make it right
Tell me how can you hate me
When you don’t know me
And who said you should hurt me
Before we’ve met
And tell me who was it told you
That I could never be your friend
So many lies
Where will it end
Time doesn’t care what road we walk down
Our choice the dark road or the light
We have such a tiny window to live our lives
And only we can make it right
Tell me how can you hate me
When you don’t know me
And who said you should kill me
Before we’ve met
And tell me who was it told you
That I could never be your friend
So many lies
Where will it end
